Post Vision

Post Vision is an artist collective inspired by, and connected to, the infinite possibilities of the internet, ran by Nicole Ruggiero from 2015 to 2020. The collective curated and supported artists whose work explores internet themes in technically and stylistically interesting ways. As a collective, Post Vision aimed to tether the artist back to the work created, reversing the trend of modern-day viral culture where the attachment of a name to a work is difficult because of the digital landscape. Post Vision consistently curated online work via Instagram and prepared curated material for digital art events.

The collective has participated in many different events including Virtually Real at VR World NYC, curated by Nicole Ruggiero and the late Terrell Davis, as well as a Post Vision show at Superchief Gallery Soho, hosted by GIPHY.

Virtually Real focused on VR works, 360° pieces, interactive games, and video. Artists were selected by Ruggiero and Davis to showcase their work during an in-person event at VR World, where guests could interact with multiple VR stations, enjoy live musical performances, and relax in lounge areas.

For the Post Vision show at Superchief Gallery, GIPHY commissioned eight artists to create six GIFs each on the theme of social technology and phraseology: the culture around meme culture. The goal of the commission was to create viral artwork. Out of the 8 pieces, 2 went viral after opening night. Pastelae’s “Dancing Alien” GIF received 16 million views on GIPHY, and Nicole Ruggiero & Tighe Rzankowski’s “Woke Coffee” garnered 8 million. Since then, each of the commissioned works have surpassed 5 million views, with two exceeding 100 million.
