Women In Net Art

Women in Net Art was a VICE column curated by Nicole Ruggiero and Kara Weisenstein about women who make 3D art that is related to the internet or that is primarily shown and distributed online. The art world today is still heavily dominated by men. It’s important that women are brought to the forefront and supported by other artists, platforms, galleries, and curators. For this column, 8 female net artists were carefully selected to participate in an interview with Y2K themed-questions and tropes relating back to the internet, such as “what was your first AIM screen name?” Exclusive for this column, the artists also collaborated with Snapchat to create unique Snapchat filters in their own visual art style for readers to scan and use in-app on their phones.
